Yeah, what's to argue there? You'll need to come up with something better than that.

So what is the 'norm' around here? Have you read some of the douche bag conversations, lately? Laughing

What I am saying is, I dont care if you are playing Bon Jovi covers at the Cram More Inn...you are still one of the best bassist in Porltand (I'll throw GP, Guy and Wade in there as well) and should be here being a dickhead with the rest of us. I'll get it started by taunting....

As far as the cover band, I've got to say that's it's been a blast. We're a 10 piece band with a a full horn section that's doing funk, R&B and rock tunes from the past. Sure we do some songs that might make some of you hurl but we're also doing some killer tunes that can be very "bass" intensive.

The horn section has been an interesting experience too. I've done covers in the past where you pick the songs you're going to do, learn them, and then get your asses out and play them. With the horn section it's totally different. If they don't have a piece of paper in front of them, they tend to lose themselves and screw the songs up. My newest musical experience has been transcribing and writing out horn charts. I NEVER would have guessed that would ever come up.

Return Flight plays Spinal Tap and Peter Cetera era Chicago songs. That alone makes Return Flight the greatest cover band in history. No contest. Every other band that does covers are the Oakland Raiders by comparison.

We are actually working on a couple more Chicago songs, which will bring our total up to 4 I think. I've had to learn about 80 songs in this band, so far, and Peter Cetera's bass line's actually rate up towards the top as far as complexity, at least when he's not singing. The bass lines seem to become much more simple if he's doing the lead vocal.

With the horn section, those Chicago songs are going to really sound authentic. My favorite Chicago song is "Feeling Stronger Every Day", but I don't know if that is one of the new ones you are learning.

That's one we're already doing. Peter Cetera sang lead on it so it has a pretty simple bass line.

Actually, I was speaking on your behalf, Steve. You are the one playing the Peter Cetera covers and better damn well hope you're doing it justice because if not? One can only pray that he dont find out.

I heard he cut a bitch just because she served his eggs over easy instead of over medium. what do you think he'd do to you if he caught you flubbing a bass line?

I remember that story. It happened at a Denny's in Topeka, Kansas. Peter Cetera flipped out. He broke his glass of orange juice over the table, than raked the broken glass across the forehead of that poor waitress. Worst of all, he didn't leave a tip.

All of that shit happened during the time when he only had a drinking problem. Shit, couple that with his coke smoking and he becomes insane! Everything he does is pushed to the limit. whether its busting out a vocal line for "Livin' In The Limelight" or fucking up a Hells Angel in the back parking lot at a Walmart, his motto is "all in or nothing at all!"

Rumor has it that he had his balls removed just so he had the advantage on his opponents during his street fighting days but personally I think he had them removed so he could hit the high notes during the duet with Amy Grant.
