|
|
My old band mates new studio and rehearsal space in Nashville (See last 3 photo's). The sessions went swimmingly well and I'll have plenty of studio work when we move out there. Lot's of talent in Nashville and I met a ton of contacts that I'll be working with as a session player in the new studio and at live venues. Holy friggin' cow! Paid gigs!
I played tons of music with some really outstanding male and female musicians...Rock, Blues, Country, Country-Rock, Blues-Rock, Metal, Punk etc. etc.
The Bluebird Cafe is a very famous songwriter/performer venue that one of my band mate MC's and I was welcomed with open arms and given the VIP treatment. I've also been invited to perform on some 'unplugged' sessions with minimal drums/percussion there.
Here's some photo's of our new lot, the studio and partial equipment description. Barbi and I bought a nice big corner lot 3 miles from the studio and 10 minutes from the airport.
Our new corner lot. Construction of house starts next week with a finish date in late June/early July.
This is the style and brick color of our new custom home, except that the front door will be on ground level with the rest of the house and we've changed the floor layout to include a downstairs sound-proofed (By Hookmeister Dan-O) music room for my small Tama kit and Barbi's piano (My Ludwig Zep kit will be over at the studio) with plenty of room for guest musicians for home jams, huge Master Bedroom also downstairs, with my home office/study upstairs next to the over the garage 20X22 bonus/family room , and a large hardwood dance studio upstairs for Barbi, in addition to the two guest bedrooms. I really like the aggregate driveways.

I'm a bit confused.
Are you moving to Nashville and building a house that will have a studio that features all of the gear in the pics that you posted?
Or...
do you already have that gear and when the house is finished, you and Barbie are moving to Nashville?
Either way, very cool looking house and nice gear. _________________ My Liespace

Cool house Stephen. Nashville has a much better music scene as well.
I've already picked out the space I will be moving to in a couple of months.

No, sorry for the confusion Marty. The studio is my old bassist/best friend's existing studio in Nashville. The house to be built on our new lot will have a rehearsal room only, mostly for mine and Barbi's gear and ample space for guests to jam. The studio is 3 miles from our new house location. The completion date for the new house is early June/late July, and since the moving company will take around 6-8 days to deliver our furniture from Portland, I thought we'd take a nice leisurely drive and spend a few days just motoring Barbi's Lexus across the country. I'll sell my Ford Explorer here and buy a newer SUV in Nashville. No point in driving two cars out there.
My 2655 Bayliner plus 9' Livingston dingy w/outboard motor, along with Barbi's 18 foot rowing 'Skul', will either be sold with our Portland house or sold separately since I don't have any need for this huge 5,000 lb. vessel in Nashville, much less having to deal with hauling it 2,000+ miles, plus carting the two smaller boats halfway across the country as well. The Bayliner is the perfect river boat for around here so it makes perfect sense to sell it here. My studio buddy and his wife like to waterski, as does Barbi; and I like to drive only, so I'll shop around for a little 20'+ ski boat/trailer combo in Nashville.
J Percy Priest Lake is just minutes away from the house. Huge lake, 14,000 acres of water with great fishing; largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, striped bass, Cherokee bass, white bass, catfish, bluegill, bream, and trout, in addition to great waterskiing, etc.

It'll be nice to have a dog again since Barbi and I are not really cat people. I saw something interesting in Nashville at one particular house of the more than 30 existing houses we looked at that were for sale but weren't quite what we wanted. An invisible electronic dog fence!
I thought about you, Marty, when I saw this store. This is THE ultimate Gibson store in the Opry Mills Mall in Nashville.

That boat will make quite a nice apartment, Ray!
I thought about you when I saw these guys located in the Opry Mills Mall right across from "The Aquarium" restaurant...Look at the yellow sign just above and to the right of the Sting *Ray* petting tanks!
No, I DID NOT pet or touch the *Ray*'s....

Congrats on the new pad, Stephen. You and Barbie have got to be excited! Sorry to see you leave but what's life without adventure, right?
Knock 'em dead in Nashville and keep in touch.
