Just for that I'll bust out Rocka Rolla.... just don't tell Scott.... |
Football season ended, and baseball doesn't start until April 5th. This was the best time to bring back the glory of Rocka Rolla.
Over at Lala, you can listen to entire albums for free the first time around. After that, unless you buy the digital album, the songs turn into 30 second samples. So I've been listening to random albums on there. I've been comparing some of the digital albums to my CD's. I listened to the greatness of Rocka Rolla a couple of days ago.
Right now, I am listening to this:

Sad Wings is my all time favorite Priest album, with Killing Machine (hell Bent for Leather) being a close second. In fact those 4 albums are the block of true classic Priest albums. They just had it dialed in then. They kinda got it back around Screaming and Defenders, but after that it slipped away. I'm sure I've listened to those 4 albums multiple times more than any other of them.
Rocka Rolla, notsomuch, sorry Ray. It's just TOO classic for me, like Scorpions "Lonesome Crow". I guess I'm just not that much of a fan then _________________ www.myspace.com/jarofliespdx - www.myspace.com/alsilveiramusic |

The Judas Priest albums I hear people talk the most about are Stained Class, British Steel, and Screaming For Vengeance. It's funny when the British Steel fans bag on Point Of Entry. Because those two albums are very similar. Point Of Entry has some of my favorite guitar tones of all time.
I'm listening to Sin After Sin now. That album, along with Stained Class, are almost prog. Lots of epic songs happening there.
Of course, all those albums pale in comparison to Rocka Rolla. Lonesome Crow destroys Lovedrive as well. _________________ *Ray*

As far as Priest albums go:
Rocka Rolla - 2/5
Sad Wings of Destiny - 5/5
Sin After Sin - 4.5/5
Stained Class - 4.5/5
Killing Machine / Hell Bent for Leather - 5/5
British Steel - 3.5/5
Point of Entry - 3.5/5
Screaming For Vengence - 4/5
Defenders of the Faith - 4/5
Turbo - 2.5/5
Ram It Down - 1.5/5
Painkiller - 4/5
After that I would have no idea, I have Jugulator and maybe listened to it once. I have never owned Ram It Down. I gave away Turbo. Ram It Down was basically the leftovers from Turbo, and not even good ones. Aweful. Aweful, aweful, aweful.
I'll spin Rocka Rolla one of these days again, but honestly it really doesn't do much for me. You'll have to show me the correct way to listen to it, Ray. Just like you did for me and Complete. _________________ www.myspace.com/jarofliespdx - www.myspace.com/alsilveiramusic |

Rocka Rolla: 5/5
Sad Wings Of Destiny: 4/5
Sin After Sin: 5/5
Stained Class: 4/5
Hell Bent For Leather: 4/5
British Steel: 4/5
Point Of Entry: 5/5
Screaming For Vengeance: 4/5
Defenders Of The Faith: 4/5
Turbo: 3/5
Ram It Down: 2/5
Painkiller: 3/5
Jugulator: 3/5
Demolition: 3/5
Angel Of Retribution: 3/5
Nostradamus: 3/5
Oakland Raiders: 0/5
I've only listened to Nostradamus once, and that was less than a week ago. So that rating will most likely change when I listen to it a few more times. _________________ *Ray*

That would require the number to go below zero. _________________ *Ray*

I'm still on a Deep Purple kick. Anybody want to form a tribute band? I already got Ian Gillan's look down.

In honor of the fact that Ray requested a song and didn't show up at the show to hear it, I would like to submit the following:
Rocka Raya
