The Redemption - CD Release show - April 7th, 2006
Hawthorne Theater, Portland OR
The Pacific Northwest stands strong in regards to local talent. Portland Oregon and its outlying areas are not lacking with performers and groups too numerous to accurately quantify. Only a small percentage of those acts will reap any level of subjective success. In my opinion, The Redemption has positioned itself securely within that small percentage.
The Redemption gave a stellar performance during their CD release show on April 7th at the Hawthorne Theater. With a solid and fulfilling set, they delivered the goods to the fans and patrons, and demonstrated true talent and passion in their art. Their music fits well with what many locals and non-locals alike may be seeking and their solid modern-rock sound is easy to relate to without being too edgy or overcomplicated. The Redemption didn’t rely on theatrics to carry their show. With both electric and acoustic sets, their creatively-written and well-rehearsed material was enough to raise ample applause and appreciation from the crowd that night.
The Redemption’s extended set broke midway for a raffle give-away with fabulous schwag and band items including a splash cymbal autographed by the band. The prizes were awarded by none other than Portland’s own comedic queen and co-host of KUFO’s “Marconi Show” - Kristine Levine. She just happens to be a fan of The Redemption, and added to the festivities with her witty teasing while dispensing prizes.
The Redemption’s set list included songs such as “Statue" and "Hollow Days" from their previous 4-track demo as well as many newer ones to include “Let Go” and “Down Once More”. Overall, this was an excellent show. The Redemption deserves many accolades for their uncompromising performances and diligent work in releasing their full-length CD. Get out and see The Redemption live and get yourself a copy of their new self-titled CD. Don’t be surprised to find yourself a fan of The Redemption.
